Frequently asked Questions

Who needs localization?

All companies who need their products properly adapted for international markets.

What does PTB do?

We select translators who are familiar with programming issues, have experience in software localization and who are Russian native speakers.

The reason is that a native speaker of the language who lives in the target country is the best judge of localization issues such as those listed above.

We use special tools (CAT) for keeping consistency. Several translators, technical specialists and consultants work on each project. As a result, we always deliver good quality within deadlines specified by our clients.

How is the translation process organized in PTB?

We have strong in-house staff and a number of reliable freelancers with whom we work for years. Translation process has 3 stages - translation, editing and proofreading - in all cases, all projects must pass the Quality Assurance (QA) procedure before delivery. We work only with the best translators.

How long does the localization process take?

It depends. Localization is a complicated process including desk-top publishing (DTP), user interface (UI) translation (if applicable), content translation (translation itself), checks of the final document and implementation of corrections into the text. General information: a 2000 words project takes from 3 to 5 working days.

How much does it cost?

Our regular price is $0.08 per word but it should be considered separately in all cases.

How can I minimize the cost?

With help of CAT tools and big volumes you order for translation (see the Tools and Processes section).

How can I get a quote?

How does PTB maintain quality?

Translation process has 3 stages - translation, editing and proofreading - in all cases, all projects must pass the Quality Assurance (QA) procedure before delivery. We work only with the best translators. Our staff is very professional, we provide terminology and TM management, our special software helps us to maintain the quality.

What are CAT tools? How can they improve the quality?

CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tools is a technology that automates the translation process and supports translators in translating.

For example, use of Translation Memory (TM) software allows storing and re-using client-specific terminology and previous translations, which can be retrieved for future projects. Such software is particularly effective for repetitive texts or documentation that needs to be continually updated or changed.

These tools increase efficiency, help to maintain consistency, reuse earlier translations and create client-specific glossaries. Apart from improving the quality, they also make the process less time consuming and aid to reduce project costs.

I have a small document that needs translation. Will you work on it or your service is only for big B2B projects?

Yes, we work with big companies as well as with small private requests. Regardless the size of your document, you'll have the same quality and care.
